It was the show of the 90s that we all used to sit down religiously to watch when we got in from school on Nickelodeon. But what happened to our favourite stars of the hit T.V show Saved By The Bell? Well no need to strain your little head any further thinking, as I have done all the hard work for you. So sit back, relax and try not to get weirded out by the sight of the baby-faced teens as fully-grown, alcohol consuming adults.
Every young girl’s top 10 crush list in the 90s had Zack Morris pureeeettyyy near the top. Mark-Paul Gosselaar was THE babe of the hit show with his scheming ways and trademark blonde locks. Gosselaar is best known for his role on the show but has had hits with American crime dramas NYPD Blue and Raising The Bar. In keeping with Hollywood tradition, Gosselaar has been married twice and has two children… Wow, doesn’t that sound weird. However he will forever live on in our hearts as hunky Zack Morris. NOM.
Every teenage boner of the 90s began and ended with Kelly Kapowski. The brunette bombshell was the girl everyone wanted to be and the girl every guy wanted to be with. Her on/off relationship with Zack eventually came to a finale when the pair married in the spin off movie ‘Wedding in Las Vegas.’ Kelly a.k.a Tiffani Thiessen had huge success as Valerie Malone in Beverley Hills 90210 following the show but is most commonly known to the modern generation as Elizabeth Burke in White Collar. She married boyfriend Brady Smith in 2005 and I’m happy (and quite surprised) to announce that they’re still together and have a 2 year old daughter Harper Renn Smith. ❤
Goody-goody, well-behaved student Jessie Spano didn’t last through all seasons of the show, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t appreciate her on/off flings with Slater. Following her departure from Bayside High, Elizabeth played dancer Nomi Malone in saucy show “Showgirls.” Since then she has played a recurring role as the ex-lover of Horatio Cane in CSI: Miami and is most commonly known for her own organisation “Ask Elizabeth” in which she helps and offers advice to young girls through the trials and tribulations of adulthood. She married Greg Lauren in 2003 and announced this March that she was expecting her first child. Ah bless.
If ever there was a person to challenge the good looks of Zack Morris it was AC Slater. Although the pair were the show’s most obvious frenemies, we liked their mutual scheming and combined good looks the most. Although he disappeared off the radar for while, Mario Lopez was brought back to the limelight after his appearance on Dancing With the Stars. He is a regular television presenter with T.V shows such as America’s Best Dance Crew, Miss Teen USA, Miss America and Miss Universe. He separated from first wife Ali Landry after just two weeks and now has a baby girl with fiancé Courtney Laine Mazza.
Lark Voorhies is and will forever be recognised as fashionista Lisa Turtle, fending off the advances of Screech in SBTB. I will personally never forget the time when she kissed Zack and shit got oh so real. Nowadays she is married to her second husband Andy Prince and the pair have a child together. Voorhies tried her hand at a singing career which wasn’t extremely successful but she does have her own album released and runs her own production company “Voorhies Entertainment.”
Screech Powers – the greatest friend of Zack Morris, Bayside High premier nerd and unrequited lover of Lisa Turtle. Dustin Diamond remains a living legend in the hearts of SBTB lovers, but once he left the show things started to go extremely downhill for the 90s icon. Not only did he promote his sex tape ‘Screeched!” (*shudders,) Diamond caused tension among his 90s co-stars when he released a tell all book with included accusations of Mario Lopez raping a girl, Tiffani Thiessen cheating with her two hunky co-stars and Lisa Turtle being physically abused by her first husband. He did not take part in the casts reunion photoshoot with People magazine in 2009 and if you ask me, I’m not really lovin’ his paedophile glasses and beard. Ew.
